Recent Work: NIV Devotional Bible for Women

I’m thrilled to announce I’ve had the privilege of joining amazing group of women writers (two of my favorites, Margaret Feinberg and Annie Downs!) as part of NIV Devotional Bible for Women: Fresh Insights for Thriving in Today’s World. It’s scheduled to be published by HarperCollins Christian in September of 2015. Editor Angela Scheff has been tremendous to work with. I’ll have several pieces in the Bible, but if you’re hanging out in the Chronicles, I’ll most likely see you there. 🙂 I can’t wait to see the final product! Here’s a bit more about the project: The NIV Devotional Bible for Women brings the voices of bestselling female authors such as Naomi Zacharias, Alyssa Joy Bethke, Caryn Rivadeneria, Enuma Okoro, Kathy Khang, Laura Ortberg Turner, Margaret Feinberg and Annie Downs to you in a devotional format. Gary Haugen & 20th Anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide

I was reminded by friends at International Justice Mission that today marks the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. IJM founder Gary Haugen was there as the lead UN investigator. Soon after he founded IJM to focus on stopping predators around the world. They rescue and defend the most vulnerable. Gary saw that victims’ receiving aid in the form of food or microloans was doing no good if they fell prey to corrupt police or other criminals who stole or harmed them. The folks at IJM (and those who support it) are doing some of the most important work of social justice in our generation. Interviewing Gary was one of the biggest honors I’ve had in my career–and probably ever will have. He’s an amazing man of creativity, heart, passion and intelligence. Here’s the feature I wrote for Relevant Magazine (March/April ’07) after my interview with him Aug. 31, 2006…

Working with the Assemblies of God

I had the privilege of traveling to Springfield, Mo., last week and spending time with the General Superintendent, George Wood. Dr. Wood has an amazing heart and a cutting-edge vision for the future of the movement and I’m honored that I get to help shape that with editorial support and strategy. Here I am pictured with Dr. Wood and Josh Babyar of The Grist Group, for whom I’m working.
